David’s unique experience and diverse expertise offer our clients a single point of contact for all of their corporate and commercial needs. With a wide range of experience in both commercial law and civil litigation, David maintains a hybrid practice between both areas of law.
As the leader of our commercial law group, David assists clients with all areas of their business, including day-to-day corporate governance and structuring, contract drafting and negotiation, and assisting clients in completing commercial transactions. David has acted as counsel on numerous commercial transactions for both private and publicly traded companies such as acquisitions, purchase and sales, mergers and financings.
As a member of our civil litigation team, David represents clients in all types of civil and regulatory disputes, with a focus on complex commercial and contractual litigation. During his years of practice, David has appeared at all levels of court in Ontario, the Ontario Securities Commission, the Divisional Court and before numerous regulatory tribunals and bodies. David is regarded as a diligent and creative litigator who gets positive results for his clients.
Education & Academic Achievements
David was called to the bar in 2014, after obtaining his J.D. from the Schulich School of Law at Dalhousie University. While at law school, David was the recipient of the 2012 Robert T. Donald Insurance Prize (top grade: Insurance Law) and the 2013 Robert T. Donald Memorial Prize (top grade: Corporate Transactions). Prior to attending law school, David graduated cum laude from Rhodes College in Memphis, Tennessee with a B.A. in philosophy and from New York University with an M.A. in Humanities and Social Thought.
Experience
David completed his articles at a large national full-service firm where he subsequently worked as an associate litigator for 5 years, during which he also completed a secondment in the securities litigation group of a national bank. Prior to joining Brar Tamber Rigby Badham, David spent time as a senior associate at a boutique litigation firm in Toronto and on the business side as an executive at a junior mining company.
